Investor Pitch Sessions

Contents

Startup companies are the engine of growth for any cluster but they are particularly important for the Clean Energy sector where solutions are needed throughout our economy, from consumer products through the most cutting edge high tech business products.

The Investor Pitch Sessions are designed to provide investors with critical market, competitive and milestone information in a ten-minute format for a wide variety of startup companies and university professors seeking funding. These sessions are also ideal for journalists who want to learn about the latest new technologies being commercialized and for anyone else who wants insight into the next wave of clean energy startup companies.

Information for Entrepreneurs

The Investor Pitch Sessions have helped catalyze the formation and funding of several companies in the last four years, such as biofuels startup Qteros (formerly SunEthanol) and ICE 2008 Grand Prize Winner and wind turbine innovator FloDesign. Past startup participants have raised over $80M in equity and grant funding.

With an attendance of well over 500 people at last year's Conference including representatives of major clean energy investors in the New England region and many from other areas and multiple opportunites for networking, the Conference is designed to help you find the investors, partners and customers you need to grow your business.

If you are interested in presenting your company or university technology in one of the Investor Pitch Sessions, you must submit an application. All applications will be reviewed by the Investor Advisory Board. Applications will be reviewed for innovation, funding stage, and business feasibility.

If your application is accepted, your registration fee of $495 will provide you with the following benefits:

  • Coaching of your ten-minute pitch (mandatory).
  • An exhibit table (2' x 6') for your company or university research laboratory (mandatory). Please note that the Hynes Convention Center charges an extra fee for access to electricity.
  • Name badge ribbon signifying your role as a presenter and exhibitor.
  • Full registration at the Conference for one person (each additional team member of Pitching Company can register at the discounted price of $220)  .

The Investor Advisory Board

The Investor Advisory Board (IAB) comprises leading investors in the Clean Energy space. The Board was formed to help find and mentor the professors and entrepreneurs with the best new clean energy technologies ready for business development. The IAB consists primarily of investors but includes successful entrepreneurs with critical insight into clean energy entrepreneurship.

  • Co-Chair: Peter Rothstein, New England Clean Energy Council
  • Co-Chair: Abi Barrow, Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center

Other Investor Pitch Opportunities

The Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center (MTTC) offers more intensive opportunities for mentoring and networking with industry leaders in the Platform program. Each Platform features one entrepreneur or company with technology based at least in part on intellectual property from one of the Commonwealth's nonprofit research institutions. Unlike our Conference events, the Platform provides extensive time for feedback from a hand-picked group of experts for the entrepreneur.

The MTTC also produces sector-specific Conferences throughout the year. For instance, some energy technologies and businesses have been pitched at past Nano- and Microtechnology Showcases. Life sciences are also featured annually. Programs for these events are available. New programming is under development.
